I just finished this painting for the upcoming Autumn Society group show that is themed Dia de los Muertos. I don't get to paint people alot so I decided to do a portrait of the Aztec Goddess of the Dead. The flowers around her are Marigolds which are commonly used during the festivities of the holiday.

wow that's beautiful! If you don't mind my asking -- do you mask areas when you paint, like with frisket?
thanks john! no i don't mask anything i just trust myself to freehand!
