dabbling in design

i just finished working on this above logo design for one of my coworkers film production company, see all productions, it's always fun to do some work other than painting. working in illustrator has just as many challenges as working with a brush! find it harder to create smoothly curved shapes with vector art vs. using a paintbrush.

above and below: logo designs for friends of manayunk canal. They are running a great program where they are having workshops on crafting barrels to save and filter drain runoff water, and even an art contest for making designs on the actual barrels themselves.

bighead

sometimes making paintings without sketching first, is a good way for me to loosen up. This painting was made with alot of pre-mixed colors that I had left over from previous pieces. The heart shape was something I had cut out of board that I was going to use for a gallery show, but never did. So I guess you could say it was made out of recycled art projects.

above is one of the only pictures i have of a mighty mugg toy that I had painted for my solo show at trickgo in december. unfortunately the toy was stolen from the gallery the night of the opening. : (

art at work

so i usually write the specials out on the wall with sidewalk chalk at the restaurant where i work. this time an event planner had an idea where he wanted a winter scene done for a private party in march. heres some pics of the end results.

7sinscontest

I feel like I've been working on this piece forever. It is for an international art contest based on the 7 deadly sins. The topic I chose is lust. The quote is based on a Portuguese song. I hope you like it, this will probably be my last piece with hand painted type for awhile, i think it's time to explore some other ideas!

new website

Hey everyone! I feel as if I haven't been getting much art work done very recently, but alot of this was due to my new website that I posted a few weeks ago. This is the 3rd version of my illustration site. I was feeling as if the previous version was to complicated to navigate, so I tried to design it in a way to simplify it and make it more about the imagery. I had originally planned to redesign on indexhibit, but I could not figure out how to work it, so I ended up using dreamweaver again.
